Commonwealth Wins Corporate Philanthropy Award

Armstrong, Fleming & Moore is proud to announce our broker/dealer, Commonwealth Financial Network, was recognized at the Invest in Others Awards, sponsored by Investment News.

Commonwealth was honored with the Corporate Philanthropy Award - Financial Institutions at the foundation's September event in New York, for its Chemo Caps for Kids program, a cause invented by and inspired Commonwealth advisors, staff, and their families.  Chemo Caps for Kids is a grassroots effort that began in 2009 when an employee’s son was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent treatment (he has since fully recovered!). Employees across all departments and business units meet weekly at lunch to knit caps to donate to pediatric cancer patients. Efforts have even spread to advisors, families, and friends. More than 4,200 hats have been donated to 16 hospitals nationwide. This video tells the story.

In addition to Commonwealth Cares, which provides contributions of time, talent, and financial support to a wide range of charitable efforts, Commonwealth runs upwards of 40 philanthropic programs a year.

AFM is inspired by the strong commitment to bettering the lives of our staff, clients, and the communities we call our home. Our firm is enthusiastically looking forward to our own philanthropy event preparing meal bags for the Adams Place homeless shelter here in D.C. this November. Please feel free to reach out to us on ways to give back this holiday season.
