A group of us at Armstrong, Fleming & Moore were able to visit the Newseum before it’s closing on December 31, 2019. At the Newseum, we were able to learn about the story of the news, the role of a free press in major events in history, and how core freedoms of the First Amendment – religion, speech, press, assembly and petition – apply to our everyday lives. With more than 60 exchanging exhibits, we explored topics such as the FBI and press; 9/11 Gallery which displayed the antennae from the top of the World Trade Center; the Berlin Wall Gallery; major moments in the civil rights movement; Stonewall and the rise of the LGTBQ rights movement; and winners of the prestigious worldwide Pictures of the Year competition.
