Valerie is now enjoying all that DC and Virginia have to offer and especially likes taking long walks through Old Town Alexandria. She loves cooking, traveling, meeting friends for brunch, and taking care of her crazy kitten, Oliver.Valerie joined Armstrong, Fleming & Moore in January 2017 as a client services associate. After graduating from Bryn Mawr College with a BA in history, she moved back home to St. Mary’s County, Maryland. After getting a job with the local Housing Authority and working there for two years, she craved more excitement and moved to Alexandria, Virginia, where she currently resides.

Emilia joined Armstrong, Fleming & Moore as a client services associate in March 2017. Prior to joining AFM, she worked in the fields of medical billing, corporate accounts receivables, and non-profit development with a performing arts focus. Emilia studied music, with an emphasis on the harp, and psychology at Rice University, where she met her husband. Together, they lived in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado before coming to Washington, DC in the fall of 2015.

In her time outside of the office, she enjoys attending performances of the symphony, theater, and opera, walking in Rock Creek Park, and exploring the restaurants along 14thStreet with friends.

AA & Deena

Alex presented InvestmentNews’ 2017 Alexandra Armstrong Award to Deena Katz, associate professor at Texas Tech University and chairman of Evensky & Katz/Foldes Financial Wealth Management. This annual award celebrates pioneers in the field of financial planning. It recognizes women who have had long careers as advisers, a track record of leadership in the profession and/or at charitable organizations, and a demonstrated commitment to service as a role model or mentor to other women. It also acknowledges women who have earned the admiration and respect of their peers.

AFM has several college interns for the summer.  

  • Riley Schleifer, a rising sophomore from Miami University in Ohio majoring in Finance
  • Angela Hu, a rising junior from American University in DC majoring in Business Administration
  • Riley Hayes, a rising sophomore from Catholic University in DC majoring in Economics
